JetBlue Launches New Service between Ft. Lauderdale and Turks & Caicos Islands

-- Service Provides Access to Third JetBlue Focus City for Turks & Caicos Islanders; New Service Also Starts from Ft. Lauderdale to Philadelphia and Charleston, S.C. --

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL – November 19, 2015 -- JetBlue Airways (NASDAQ: JBLU), the largest carrier in Ft. Lauderdale, today launched its newest Caribbean route, with year-round daily flights between Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Providenciales International Airport (PLS) in the Turks & Caicos Islands. The new service marks the third JetBlue focus city from which service is offered to Turks & Caicos, with flights also available from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Boston’s Logan International Airport (BOS).

The new flights are part of JetBlue's ongoing growth at its focus city in Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, Fla., where it now offers flights to more than 40 destinations, including new service that also launched today to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and Charleston International Airport (CHS) in South Carolina.

“We’re thrilled to introduce new service from sunny Ft. Lauderdale to one of the most stunning islands in the Caribbean,” said Jason Annunziata, director of airport operations for Ft. Lauderdale. “This new service will provide South Floridians with a new option to discover this world-famous destination, while Turks & Caicos Islanders will have a new option for visiting beautiful South Florida and experiencing its world-class shopping and attractions, as well as connect to points throughout the U.S. and Latin America through this JetBlue focus city.”

"It has been some time that the public has encouraged the Turks & Caicos Islands Airports Authority to lobby carriers for operations out of Fort Lauderdale to the Turks & Caicos Islands. The Chairman and TCIAA are pleased that JetBlue has filled this void much to the pleasure of the traveling public, whom we hope will support this initiative," said TCIAA CEO, John T. Smith.

JetBlue flights on this new route to Providenciales are operated using the carrier's Embraer E190 aircraft which features the most legroom in coach (a) and spacious two-by-two seating.
